Manchester United star Donny van de Beek sparks injury concerns with a swollen ankle
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United star Donny van de Beek has sparked injury concerns regarding his swollen ankle.
The Dutch star was privy to a number of hard challenges in his first full start for the club in the Premier League. He was however a part of a spectacular comeback that saw us overturn a 2-0 deficit in stoppage time.
The tackles did have an impact on the player. He posted an Instagram post after the match, showcasing the swollen ankle.
Van de Beek has found starts difficult to come by at United. Mostly used as a substitute, he made the most of his opportunity yesterday.
While there are still ways to go, he showed excellent movement and an eye for a pass as he lasted the full match at St Mary’s. With United set to take on PSG midweek, it remains to be seen if the Dutchman will keep his spot in the starting XI.
The performance on the night also put to bed the suggestions that he and Bruno Fernandes are incapable of playing together. (h/t The Express)
“We know we can play together and also with other players we have the team. Everyone has quality to play and we know each other.”
The prospect of the duo forming a dominant partnership in midfield will be something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

The win on the night has seen us close the gap to the top to just five points, with a game in hand.
It now becomes a question of us replicating that second-half performance on a consistent basis. Only then can we stake a claim to be title contenders.
