Hasenhuttl takes a shot at Man United celebrations after hard-fought win

Ralph Hasenhuttl takes a shot at Manchester United after impressive comeback win

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has not taken kindly to his team blowing a 2-0 lead against Manchester United.

The Saints went into the break two goals to the good against a lacklustre United side unable to take their chances. Our problems were compounded when David de Gea was forced off with an injury.

However, substitute Edinson Cavani produced an assist and two late goals to win us the game 3-2. This saw us move to within a point of Southampton and five off the top with a game in hand.

As expected, the stoppage-time winner saw the players celebrate wildly. Given the nature of the dramatic comeback, we would not have expected otherwise.

According to The Daily Mail, Hasenhuttl believes the celebrations were over the top. The Saints boss was not enthused by United’s ‘overzealous’ celebrations in their dressing room.

“You can hear them celebrating in their dressing room. You know what you have done today and how tough an opponent you have been because they were celebrating like they had won the Premier League.”

He did however attempt to paint a pretty picture of his team’s collapse. Hasenhuttl believes United’s celebrations were a testament to the fight his team put up.

We do understand that throwing away such a comfortable lead would be very hard for a team to take. Hasenhuttl has every right to feel aggrieved at his team’s inability to hold onto their lead.

After all, very few can complain that United did not deserve the win given our second-half performance.
