Paul Pogba congratulates Manchester United teammates
Paul Pogba was once again absent as Manchester United made easy work of Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League at Old Trafford yesterday.
The Red Devils won 4-1 on the night, thanks to a brace by Bruno Fernandes. The result saw us take a giant leap towards qualification for the last 16.
While not part of the matchday squad, Pogba has shown his espirit de corps by congratulating his teammates for their brilliant win.
He took to Instagram to post a montage of the match titled ‘well done boys’.
The French international also missed our first home win in the Premier League last weekend. His absence was because of a knock picked up while on national duty with France.
Speaking to MUTV (h/t The Mirror), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Pogba’s ankle was swollen. Given the admission, it is no surprise he did not feature on the night.
An excellent night was ruined by the knocks picked up by Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The duo is now a doubt for this weekend’s fixture against Southampton.
Whether Pogba too will continue to spend time on the sidelines remains to be seen.

Pogba’s absence gave Donny van de Beek a chance to shine. The Dutchman made full use of the opportunity and put in a fine display.
It would be fair to say that United are finding ways to cope with the absence of their underperforming French superstar.
