“Group is still very open” – Solskjaer not getting carried away despite 4-1 thrashing of Istanbul

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking nothing for granted despite UCL win

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not taking Champions League progress for granted despite yesterday’s win over Istanbul Basaksehir.

The win took us to nine points out of a possible 12 after four gameweeks. Currently on top of the group, we have to face PSG and RB Leipzig next.

While our position offers us some degree of comfort, reversals in both games could undo all the good work done so far.

Given what is at stake, it is perhaps for the best that Solskjaer is refusing to get carried away. United take on PSG next week in a game of massive proportions.

“We’ve got nine, two on six points (PSG and RB Leipzig) and Basaksehir on three, so we still need points to go through.”

The French champions remain a formidable unit but lack the same sense of dominance they showcased last season. However, with the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their ranks, one cannot take them lightly.

With just one game needed to ensure our progress, Untied will do well to get the job done sooner than later.

Solskjaer too has the same idea and is keen to see the job done next week.

“One probably should be enough and three probably gives you the win, so hopefully against PSG we can secure the points we need.”

PSG have always been a memorable opponent for Solskjaer. In three games so far, Solskjaer has won two and lost one.

A return to the Champions League knockout would be another step taken in our aim to get back to the top. While success in the competition will still be some way away, being able to navigate the group of death will do our morale good.
