At least one Manchester United star expected Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be shown the door
According to The Express, transfer expert Duncan Castles revealed that at least one Manchester United player expected the club to part ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
This was seen as an unavoidable after-effect of a difficult start to the current campaign. United are currently in the 14th spot in the Premier League going into next weekend.
With three losses in the first six games, the pressure was on Solskjaer to get a result at Goodison Park in our most recent fixture. United put up a solid outing and came away with all three points.
While this may have given the Norwegian some breathing space, it has hardly solidified his hold on the managerial hot seat.
Abject losses to Crystal Palace,Arsenal Istanbul Basaksehir and Tottenham Hotspur have seen Solskjaer’s methods come into question.
This also led to the club being linked with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine has been out of work since parting ways with the North Londoners last year.
According to Castles, the unnamed player believed sacking Solskjaer would have been the right way to go. He goes on to add that the player believed it would give United more of a chance of success if Solskjaer wasn’t in charge anymore.
“From a pure sporting perspective, he thought that would be a good idea.”
We can’t say that Solskjaer is the man who will definitely take us back to the top. However, players should keep their eye on what happens on the field than off it. Lack of faith in the manager transcending onto the field could be catastrophic.
Solskjaer is not without his faults, but neither are the players. We win and lose as a team.
