Manchester United to keep a keen eye on Konrad Laimer
According to The Sun, Manchester United are set to keep an eye on RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.
The Red Devils will get a first hand look at the 23-year-old when we face the Germans in the UEFA Champions League in December. Laimer was absent when we smashed Leipzig 5-0 at home last month.
According to MEN, the player is seen as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is once again under the scanner and could be on his way out.
Pogba’s relationship with United fans is questionable. His latest comments while on national duty with France will have done little to endear himself to the supporters. What this means for his future at the club is anyone’s guess. (h/t MEN)
In Laimer, United will have a young, dynamic player who has all the tools to become a leading midifield star.
He is currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained in August. Currently undergoing rehabilitation, Laimer could recover by the time we face Leipzig next month.
Laimer came through the Red Bull Salzburg academy and moved to Leipzig in 2017. He has been nicknamed the Austrian N’Golo Kante for his ability to win the ball back. (h/t MEN)
He is also a deft hand going forward. Able to comfortably dribble and pass, he has the hallmarks of a midfield all-rounder.
Laimer averages 11.23 defensive duels and 9.29 recoveries per 90 minutes. Incredible numbers that put any United midfielder to shame. (h/t The Sun)

On paper, Laimer is an excellent choice. Adding him to the setup can also see us free up Bruno Fernandes to don the number 10 role.
There is the potential that Laimer could offer us better balance while also helping the players around him play to their strengths. However, whether we can secure him or not remains to be seen.
