Bruno Fernandes calls for teammates to step up as leaders after Everton result
As reported by the Express, Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has called on his teammates to show more leadership qualities after the club’s 3-1 win against Everton.
The game did not start well for the Red Devils with Bernard putting the Toffees at Goodison Park. However, Fernandes sparked a stirring comeback, heading home the equaliser, before getting his second of the afternoon before half-time.
The Portuguese international wasn’t done with just that though as he created the third goal for Edinson Cavani with an unselfish assist. It was an important win for the side after back-to-back defeats against Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir.
And Fernandes, after a couple of dull performances, stepped it up a notch on Saturday night, leading from the front. And speaking after the game, the Portuguese international has demanded more leadership from his teammates as United look to revive their season. (h/t Express)
“I think we know inside of the dressing room what we have to do, the players that we have. Everyone needs to be a leader. Some are the mute leaders, they don’t talk too much but they’re doing the right things.”
With his contributions on Saturday, Fernandes has taken his tally for the season to six goals and five assists from 11 appearances in all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
