Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in furious rant over fixture scheduling
As reported by the MEN, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lashed out at the Premier League over the fixture scheduling, after his team defeated Everton 3-1 on Saturday.
After two poor results against Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir over the last week, the Red Devils returned to winning ways, coming back from a goal down to beat the Toffees at Goodison Park.
The result does alleviate some pressure on the manager that had been built up over the past week. However, Solskjaer wasn’t exactly in a cheerful mood post the game, as he hit out at the scheduling. (h/t MEN)
“We were set up to fail. We’ve played loads of games already this season, we’ve been to Turkey on Wednesday night, back in Thursday morning and we’re playing Saturday in a lunchtime kick-off, it’s an absolute shambles.”
The scheduling does raise a few eyebrows, considering that Liverpool and Manchester City are scheduled to play on Sunday even though they had played a day before us in the Champions League. (h/t MEN)
“You’ve got Liverpool and City, fair play they play each other, but they played Tuesday and now they play Sunday. Who is responsible? We’ve had enough of that. I’ve had enough.”

Given the congested schedule for the season, Solskjaer is right to lash out at the decision-makers for these issues.
Players need to be taken care of in these circumstances and questionable scheduling like this, coupled with the Premier League’s decision to remove the five-substitute rule, does put a lot of burden on the players.
