Manchester United will need to act fast if they want to secure Mauricio Pochettino

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are at a risk of missing out on Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has been touted to replace under-fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian, despite his best efforts, has failed to instil an identity or shape to the United squad.

Currently floundering in 15th spot in the league, Solskjaer’s position at the club is far from safe. It was reported yesterday that United had held talks with Pochettino’s representatives regarding him replacing Solskjaer.

As it turns out, we are not the only club after the Argentine tactician. Pochettino has been out of work since leaving Spurs last year. He recently appeared on Monday Night Football where he revealed that he was ready to return to management.

He has already spoken with one ‘high-profile’ club over the last few weeks. Given that he is back on the market, United will need to act quickly.

Ticks all boxes

Pochettino is a proven manager in the Premier League. He enjoyed fruitful spells at both Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

While his time at Spurs may have come to an inglorious end, he did well given his resources in North London. In fact, taking a club such as Tottenham to the Champions League final is no mean feat.

It can be argued that he mentored the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli into the players they are today. Son Heung-Min also grew into a truly dangerous player under the Argentine’s tutelage.

United now have a decision on their hands. All eyes will be on Goodison Park this weekend, where we take on Everton. It remains to be seen if a loss will force the board’s hand. Loyalty is well and good but misplacing it is just as dangerous.
