Peter Crouch hits out at Ed Woodward for poor transfer strategy
As reported by the Express, Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has been slammed by Peter Crouch over a lack of clear strategy in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United endured a torrid summer transfer window, missing out on a host of top targets. Up until the transfer deadline day, Donny van de Beek was the only player that the club had signed.
On the final day, however, there was a flurry of activity, with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Traore all getting signed.
Woodward failed to bring in a number of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top transfer targets chief among them being Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish. (h/t Daily Mail)
Speaking after the club’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal this past weekend, former Liverpool and Tottenham striker Crouch hit out at the club’s transfer activity over a lack of clear ideas. (h/t Express)
“I don’t know what direction Manchester United are going in. I feel like that when a good player comes up, like Cavani or Van de Beek, I feel like they go for him and get him and not really have a plan of where they’re going to play them.”
Crouch, then, went on to compare United to rivals Arsenal, claiming that he was able to see signs that things are coming together for them, but the same couldn’t be said about the Red Devils. (h/t Express)
