Manchester United have no intentions of signing Hakan Calhanoglu
According to The Athletic (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United have informed AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu that they have no intention of signing him next summer.
The 26-year-old has been in top form for Milan in the post-lockdown period and has been integral to their rise under Stefano Pioli. Since the start of the new term, he has scored and assisted four goals apiece in nine games in all competitions.
However, Calhanoglu is out of contract at the end of the season and is believed to have rejected a new deal from the Rossoneri. That means he will be a free agent in the next summer. (h/t Daily Mail)
And, over the past week, Manchester United had been heavily linked with a swoop for the Turkish international. However, as per the latest claims, the Red Devils have decided to pass up the chance to land Calhanoglu on a free transfer. (h/t Daily Mail)
It is claimed that Calhanoglu’s agent got in touch with Manchester United’s chief negotiator Matt Judge to hash out a deal. But the club has decided that they have enough options in the attacking midfield slot and will not pursue his signing.
Despite the recent dreadful form in the league, Manchester United boast two brilliant players in Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek for the No. 10 slot.

And even though there is the likelihood of Jesse Lingard leaving and Juan Mata getting phased out slowly, signing another player for the No. 10 role might be an imprudent move by the club, even if Calhanoglu is available for free.
