“I was unfair” – Solskjaer admits his mistake in rushing out-of-form Man United star into action

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits to rushing back Manchester United ace Paul Pogba

According to MEN, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he was wrong to rush back Paul Pogba.

The French international tested positive for COVID-19 in late August. He did not start training until nine days before United’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on September 19.

Instead of easing him into the team, Solskjaer threw Pogba straight into the line-up for the clashes against Brighton and Tottenham.

“Maybe I was unfair to him starting him that early in the first few games but he’s coming on and he’s done great when he’s come on.”

The 27-year-old failed to impress in either game and was subsequently dropped for the next clash against Newcastle United.

Pogba has come off the bench in our last two games against PSG and Chelsea. Despite not hitting his heights, he has looked better than he did earlier in the season.

A major highlight was his assist for Marcus Rashford’s winner at the Parc des Princes. The contribution could prove pivotal given our draw in the group of death.

“He’s been out for a while with coronavirus this summer, so he’s getting better and better and maybe more his shape.”

Race for top four: Freeing Pogba vital for Solskjaer

United have enjoyed a mixed bag of results so far this season. Distressing performances such as that against Tottenham Hotspur were followed by the highs against PSG.

Hopefully, it will be a turn of the tide and we can get a good run going. United next face RB Leipzig in the Champions League. Another win will see us make a big step towards qualifying for the last 16.
