Bruno Fernandes believes Harry Maguire can lead Manchester United to glory
According to The Mirror, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has backed under-fire skipper Harry Maguire to usher in the club to a brighter future.
The Englishman has endured difficult few months both on and off the field. Maguire was subject to a suspended sentence for aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and repeated attempts of bribery while holidaying in Greece.
Although he has since appealed the verdict, the ghosts continue to follow him. Moreover, he has looked off the pace on the pitch, inspiring chaos in the United backline.
Coming into the season on the back of a sending off for England, Maguire took the first steps in redeeming himself against Newcastle United yesterday.
The 27-year-old headed in United’s equalizer after a Luke Shaw own-goal put the Magpies ahead. By doing so, he repaid the faith put in him by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Fernandes too was impressed by how Maguire showed courage under fire. He believes the United skipper responded well to criticism by performing on the field.
“It is of course difficult for every player being under fire but he did what he had to do on the pitch. He scored. We can push him and he can push us.”
The Portuguese star was also on the scoresheet as he put United 2-1 up late on. Further goals from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford ensured we left St. James’ Park with all three points.
This is United’s second win and so far our most convincing one this Premier League season.
