Marcus Rashford backs Edinson Cavani to impress at Manchester United
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has backed new boy Edinson Cavani to do well at the club.
The Uruguayan veteran joined United on deadline day. He was a free agent after his contract at PSG expired at the end of last season.
The 33-year-old’s signing has divided opinion. But, there is no arguing the fact that he arrives at the club with a stellar reputation.
“He can be a massive player for us this season.”
Rashford is among those who have no doubts regarding Cavani’s ability to impress at the Theatre of Dreams.
According to the report, the English star believes Cavani is exactly the sort of player United need. The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the season and have lost their first two home games in the Premier League.
Rashford has likened signing Cavani to the United sides of the past that possessed multiple goalscorers.
“Growing up, United always had four or five forwards who could score goals at any time. The closer we get to that, the more strength we’ll have.”
Cavani’s reputation as a clinical striker is well earnt. He has plundered in 341 goals at the club level since moving to Europe in 2007.
The Uruguayan has had stints at Palermo, Napoli and PSG. He won the Serie A and the Ligue 1 golden boots at the latter two clubs respectively.
Hopefully, he can make it a hat-trick at United. There is still so much Cavani can bring to the Red Devils despite his advanced age.
It remains to be seen if he will make a prophet out of Rashford.
