Manchester United set to assign Donny van de Beek new strength training programme
According to The Sun, Manchester United new boy Donny van de Beek is set to be given a new strength training programme.
The 23-year-old joined United from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam. He made an instant impact as he came off the bench to score on his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace.
United for their part have been impressed by the midfielder’s core fitness. They now plan to see him bulk up in order to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.
This will see the Dutchman put on muscle in the right areas. His new sessions will include making use of weights and resistance work such as pull-ups and chest presses.
United followed the same approach with both Cristiano Ronaldo and recently Bruno Fernandes. Given the impact both of them have made at Old Trafford, the omens bode well for Van de Beek.
The 23-year-old has been received well at Old Trafford as a fine trainer. In fact, his attitude has been compared to that of David Beckham.
Van de Beek is yet to start a Premier League game for United. He has however been given the nod to feature in the starting XI for both of our Carabao Cup matches.
Having impressed when given the opportunity and in training, it could be just a matter of time before he is promoted to the starting XI on a regular basis.
United take on Newcastle in the Premier League this weekend. It remains to be seen if Van de Beek will make his first league start for the club at St. James’ Park.
