Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes left furious at half-time in Tottenham embarrassment
According to The Athletic (h/t The Mirror). Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes was left raging at the tactics of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at half-time in the home loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
The midfielder gave Untied the lead courtesy of an early penalty. That was as good as it got as Jose Mourinho’s side ended the half 4-1 up.
They were helped by some rather rudderless defending and the disorganization that followed Anthony Martial’s sending off.
Fernandes was unable to hide his frustration as the players headed down the tunnel at half-time. The Portuguese star was baffled at what he said and it came out in a wave of rage.
“He laid into team-mates, accusing them of not upholding the proud name of Manchester United. He kept yelling, ‘We are supposed to be Manchester United. This shouldn’t be happening.”
Although club officials have ruled out a row, they accepted that Fernandes’ disapproval rang the loudest.
“There were other raised voices, but his was the one which seemed to carry the main force.”
The 26-year-old was taken off at half-time in favour of Brazilian midfielder Fred. It did little to change matters as Spurs won the game 6-1.
United’s performance on the night was nothing short of a travesty. Spurs tore through our defence at will and the attack appeared to be nonexistent.
Mourinho got the best of Solskjaer who was unable to stem the downward spiral. While reversals are a part of the game, the club’s lack of fight was worrying.

Fernandes, for his part, did little apart from scoring the penalty. Also, his substitution at half-time could have been a signal of Solskjaer going for damage control rather than chase the game.
The decision to take him off has been another sore spot for the midfielder. While Fernandes anger is understandable, he will have to put it behind him when United take to the field next weekend.
