Lingard set to be sold by Manchester United

FC Porto consider taking Manchester United star Jesse Lingard on loan

According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson (h/t Mirror), Portuguese giants FC Porto could be set to make a loan move for Manchester United star Jesse Lingard.

While the transfer window might have closed in England, clubs in Portugal are still allowed to do business for a little longer. The deadline for transfer business to cease in Portugal is October 25. (h/t MEN)

The Dragoes have recruited Chelsea’s Malang Sarr, West Ham United’s Felipe Anderson and Marko Grujic of Liverpool on loan already. And they are now considering a similar swoop for Manchester United’s Lingard. (h/t Mirror)

The 27-year-old England international has gone from being a regular in the side to an afterthought at Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hardly used him towards the backend of last season and hasn’t featured in the Premier League in 2020/21 either.

Manchester United were understood to be keen on offloading Lingard before the transfer window closed. And while they may have failed to do so, Porto’s late interest in him could come as a boon for the Red Devils.

It was a disappointing summer transfer window for Manchester United on many levels. The club failed to bring in their intended targets, while also struggling to move the deadwood from the squad.

Lingard, though, could still be on the move in the coming days, although it is unclear whether Porto can sign more players on loan. (h/t Mirror)
