Watford hopeful of selling Ismaila Sarr to Manchester United

According to Ouest France via Inside Futbol (h/t The Mirror), Watford are hopeful that Manchester United will sign Ismaila Sarr.

The Senegalese star was a bright spot in what was an ultimately disapointing season for Watford last time around. The Hornets were relegated and are now in the second tier of English football.

The domestic transfer window is still open and United have until 16th October to land the 22-year-old.

The Red Devils were keen on signing Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho. However, it was not to be and the 21-year-old sensation is still in Germany.

One of the names touted as a replacement is Sarr.

The player’s former club Rennes made a late play to land him on deadline day. However, the deal did not materialize and the player is still available.

It was reported earlier that the Hornets were keen to sell the player than loan him out.

Though he is still a raw talent, Sarr has shown he has the makings of a star. The young Senegalese has been compared to Sadio Mane. The Liverpool star is one of the best wingers in world football and also Sarr’s international teammate.

If he develops into anything close to Mane, there would be no shortage of suitors. United missed out on the Liverpool star while he was still at Southampton. Hopefully, we will not repeat the same mistake with Sarr.

Despite a late flurry in the transfer market, United still lack a right-winger. In Sarr, we could get an unpolished but highly promising player. Whether we will make a move in the coming days remains to be seen.
