Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tips Facundo Pellistri for sucess at Manchester United
The 18-year-old’s signing flew under the radar following our acquisition of Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani.
However, given his potential, the young Uruguayan could turn into a key player for us in the coming years.
“Facundo has the perfect platform at Manchester United to develop and he has all of the technical qualities and the right mentality required to become a top player here.”
Solskjaer admits that Pellistri has been on the club’s radar for some time now. He had attracted a number of suitors across Europe, with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City amongst them.
Thankfully, it was United who won the race. The deal that will bring him to Old Trafford will set us back a modest £10m fee.
The United manager sees Pellistri as a long-term option. Although he admits the teenager has to adjust to the English games, hopes are high.
“Whilst we understand it will take time for him to adapt to the English game, he is capable of having an impact with his pace and ability to beat his opponent.”
Pellistri, who has been playing under United favourite Diego Forlan, Penarol revealed the chance to be managed by Solskjaer is ideal for his development.
Signing for United is a dream come true for the youngster and he will now look to develop his career at United.
“To have the confidence of the manager is an amazing feeling and I know that working with him will be perfect for my development.”
