Manchester United set to increase security around Ed Woodward

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are set to beef up the security around Ed Woodward ahead of the transfer window deadline on Monday.

This comes after what looks like yet another underwhelming transfer window. As yet, the Red Devils have only brought in Dutch star Donny van de Beek.

While the 23-year-old is a classy player, he is in no way a solution to all of our problems. The Red Devils are also closing in on Uruguayan star Edinson Cavani.

Ed Woodward is struggling to close deals this summer

The club is worried that Woodward could become a target for irate fans who are unhappy with the club’s business. In fact, a mob of thugs spray painted Woodward’s Cheshire house and threw flares and a smoke bomb in an attack on his property last January.

The reason for the attack was United’s lack of activity in the January transfer market. The club is keen to ensure that nothing of the sort happens again.

Fans have been left frustrated after United failed to land premier target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Having finished third last season, there was hope that we could use it as a springboard to push forward. Instead, it now appears as if we have been left behind by the teams around us.

The likes of Liverpool and Manchester City have strengthened further, adding to their formidable squads. Those around us such as Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and even Everton have all made proactive moves in the window.

We now risk being left behind and have only ourselves to blame if that happens.

United believe club legend Gary Neville’s public outburst are both inflammatory and disturbing. The former skipper was heavily critical of Woodward’s handling of transfers.

The club has blamed the COVID-19 pandemic for their guarded approach to the market. According to the report, United have lost £165m due to the crisis so far.
