The Red Devils are now considering alternatives for the 20-year-old, with Barcelona’s Dembele emerging as a plan B. In fact, it had been claimed that a deal for the Frenchman was in advanced stages. (h/t Mirror)
However, Barcelona director Planes has dismissed those speculations, claiming that there have been no talks. (h/t Mirror)
“First of all, no negotiations with Manchester United at the moment… completely deny that.”
In addition, the Catalans’ official also claimed that Dembele is an important player for the club, hinting that a departure might not take place this summer. (h/t Mirror)
Dembele joined Barcelona in the summer of 2017 from Borussia Dortmund. However, the Frenchman has had a torrid time in Spain with injuries. To date, he has featured in only 52 La Liga matches.

Signing Dembele would be a move fraught with risk, given his injury history. However, desperate times call for desperate measures and United need a new wide player at the moment.
At the moment, Donny van de Beek is the only player that the club has signed this summer. With just two days left for the transfer window to close, it remains to be seen if Manchester United are able to bring in a new player.
