National team boss Gareth Southgate had earlier admitted that he will take his time on deciding how to react. He does not believe bringing them back into the team straight away, reflects well in regards to squad discipline. (h/t The Telegraph)

The comments sound a little hollow considering how Harry Maguire made the cut. While the truth of what happened in Greece is not clear, Greenwood and Maguire seem to be judged by different laws.

England enjoys the luxury of playing three home games during the international break. They face world number 1 Belgium followed by clashes against Wales and Denmark.

More Manchester United News

While it is always disappointing to see a young player take the heat for a decision made off the field, this can act as a lesson to Greenwood.

Marcus Rashford has shown that one can be a hero both on and off the field. Greenwood will do well to keep his head down and let his football get him back into contention.

More so given our extended season last time around, extra rest for Greenwood will certainly keep him fresher for the games to come.
