Manchester United star Andreas Pereira to join Lazio on loan
According to reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has agreed to join Lazio on loan.
The deal will also include an option for the Italian giants to make the deal permanent next summer for €27m.
The player’s salary will be shared by both clubs with a medical to take place later this week.
Touted as one of the players to make way this summer, getting Pereira’s wages partly off the books, for now, can be considered as a win. The 24-year-old has been rather underwhelming in a United jersey.
The Brazilian joined United in 2011 from PSV Eindhoven. He made his senior debut three years later in the infamous 4-0 loss to Milton Keynes Dons.
A former winner of the Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year in 2015, Pereira also made it to the Under-20 World Cup final with Brazil the same year.
A versatile player capable of playing in a variety of positions, Pereira has predominantly starred as an attacking midfielder.
He has made 75 appearances for United. During this time, he has scored a modest four goals and five assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Much was expected of Pereira when he joined United. In fact, then manager Sir Alex Ferguson took a personal interest in ensuring United beat off other parties for his signature.
It is fair to say that he has not turned out as expected. Still just 24, Periera has the chance to begin afresh elsewhere. Whether he makes use of this opportunity at Lazio remains to be seen.
