Manchester United contact agent of Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), transfer expert Duncan Castles has claimed that Manchester United have contacted the representative of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.
Manchester United are in the market for a new winger this summer, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho the club’s top target. (h/t Express)
However, talks with the German club haven’t gone well, leading to the club identifying potential alternatives. And, Barcelona’s Dembele has emerged as possible Plan B for the club, with Castles claiming that contact has been made with the player’s agent. (h/t Express)
“I’m told there has been contact between United and Dembele’s agent. They want to go after a very highly rated player of similar type to Sancho in terms of speed, creativity and unpredictability.”
Much like Sancho, Dembele too burst to stardom at Dortmund. However, things haven’t gone to plans for the Frenchman since his big-money move to Barcelona in 2017, with injuries stunting his development.
Nevertheless, the 23-year-old remains a prodigious talent and fits into the profile of players Manchester United are targeting. However, Castles has claimed that there are a lot of complications for the deal to go through. (h/t Express)
The journalist has claimed that Dembele isn’t sold on a transfer to Old Trafford. In addition, his agent is demanding a large commission to make the transfer happen, which is a major roadblock in the deal. (h/t Express)
“That’s stalled, to my understanding. The people involved say it’s not impossible that Manchester United come back should Sancho not happen, but it’s become more complicated.”

Signing Dembele would be a risk, considering his injury history. However, Barcelona are in a difficult financial position. And United can capitalise on it to sign him at a cheaper price in comparison to Sancho. (h/t Express)
With less than ten days left for the window to close, it is high-time United ramped up their transfer activity.
