Manchester United to table final £90m bid for Jadon Sancho
According to the Mirror, Manchester United are set to make a ‘take it or leave it’ £90m bid for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
The English winger is at the top of United’s wishlist for the summer. While Dortmund were willing to let him go, they held firm on their £108m asking price that had to be met before August 10. (h/t Mirror)
With the Red Devils unable to meet the price or the deadline, the deal has hit a roadblock with no progress since. (h/t Mirror)
Dutch star Donny van de Beek remains United’s sole major transfer of the summer. With the window set to close in 10 days, it is now or never for the club to make their move.
According to the report, United will table a £90m bid for Sancho next week. It will consist of an upfront payment worth £75m with a further £15m in add-ons.
United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is set to inform Dortmund there will be no negotiating over the fee or structure of the deal. The report goes on to add that United remain confident of landing the player. (h/t Mirror)
Too smart or just misguided?
Old Trafford chiefs see their valuation as a ‘generous’ fee in light of the financial losses the coronavirus pandemic has caused. (h/t Mirror)
While the fee would certainly make it the biggest of the summer, it remains to be seen if United’s confidence is misplaced.
Dortmund have so far held firm on their price while the player himself continues to impress on the pitch. With his contract running until 2023, the Germans are under no pressure to sell. (h/t Mirror)
If he continues to impress, there is no reason why they cannot get the price they want next summer.

United appear to be shooting themselves in the foot by making it a non-negotiable offer, especially so late in the window.
It also gives us less room to maneuver if Dortmund reject the deal. While most of our rivals have strengthened significantly, United are still running around to sign players at the 11th hour.
