Manchester United are leading the race for Ivan Perisic
According to German publication Fussball Transfers (h/t The Express), Manchester United are leading the race for Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
The 31-year-old is back at the San Siro after a successful loan spell with Bayern Munich last season. He played a key role in their treble-winning campaign but is expected to be sold this summer. Given his performances, he has no shortage of suitors. (h/t Express)
Bringing in a winger was high on United’s wishlist this summer. Unfortunately, they have been unable to sign Jadon Sancho, prompting them to look elsewhere.
According to the report, United have made progress in their pursuit of Perisic.
It is a name familiar to the United hierarchy, with them tracking the player in the past. Former boss Jose Mourinho was keen to sign the Croatian in the summer of 2017.
Currently at Tottenham Hotspur, the Portuguese tactician was again linked with a move for Perisic. However, having signed Gareth Bale, Spurs are unlikely to pursue the Croatian. (h/t Express)
Chances to play for a club such as United do not appear twice, but in the case of Perisic, it looks to be just that.
Champions League finalists PSG are also in for the player who they faced off against in the showpiece event last season. The French giants have also contacted Inter regarding a potential deal.
Perisic is not the only winger on United’s radar. Watford ace Ismaila Sarr is also a player the Red Devils are looking at.

Sarr is a fantastic player who could turn into something special in the years to come. However, he is far from the finished product and will need time to settle.
Perisic, meanwhile, will be ready to perform and is a seasoned professional. However, given his advanced age, the resale value he brings in will be quite low.
With the transfer window set to close on October 5, time is running out for United to make their move.
