Promising starlet Deji Sotona quits Manchester United
According to MEN, promising Manchester United starlet Deji Sotona has left the club after refusing a new contract.
The 17-year-old turned down the three-year deal as he was seeking a higher payday. The Irishman wanted a weekly salary just under five figures. (h/t MEN)
Sotona also sought a first-team promotion in addition to his financial demands. He has made just one appearance for our Under-21 side so far. The match ended in disaster as he was sent off in the defeat to Tranmere Rovers. (h/t MEN)
The youngster made 22 appearances for the Under-18s last season. He scored the winner in their FA Youth Cup quarter-final victory over Wigan at Old Trafford.
League One side Rochdale have been linked with a move for Sotona. The Dale currently lack forwards and could provide the 17-year-old with enough play time. However, his salary demands could prove to be a major hurdle. (h/t MEN)
While Sotona’s loss is something the club could have done without, United are on the verge of signing two more talented strikers.
Atletico Madrid striker Alejandro Garnacho and Manchester City striker Charlie McNeill are both on their way to Old Trafford. (h/t MEN)
It represents a fruitful summer for the Academy who have a number of notable recruits joining.
Apart from the aforementioned duo, the other prospects joining are Marc Jurado, Alvaro Fernandez, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Joe Hugill, Logan Pye, and Radek Vitek. Hopefully, a few of them will eventually make the step up to the senior side. (h/t MEN)

While Sotona may have been a talented player, his demands are outlandish given the hierarchy.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown an inclination to trust youth when needed. The youngster should have done his talking on the pitch than off it. Ultimately it could prove to be his loss.
