Manchester United agree a deal for Manchester City starlet Charlie McNeil

According to MEN, Manchester United have agreed on a deal to sign Manchester City youngster Charlie McNeil.

It will be a homecoming for the 17-year-old who left United to join City in 2014 for £12,000. The deal to bring him back will set us back a maximum of £1.35m. (h/t MEN)

The English Under-16 international is a prolific scorer who is intimately familiar with finding the back of the net. He is credited with having scored an incredible 600 goals at the youth level.

McNeil was left frustrated with a lack of opportunities at City and turned down their offer for a contract renewal. This saw him leave the Etihad in June. (h/t MEN)

United, however, had to wait until this week when the youngster turned 17. This has seen United opt-out of letting a tribunal decide his value. (h/t MEN)

According to the report, the deal will be worth an initial £750,000 with the rest being made up in bonuses. City will also profit due to a sell-on clause inserted.

Unlike the first team, Untied have enjoyed a brilliant summer when it comes to youth recruitment.

McNeil will join the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Marc Jurado, Alvaro Fernandez, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Joe Hugill, Logan Pye, and Radek Vitek as the Red Devils aim to develop the superstars of tomorrow. (h/t MEN)

The club’s lone senior signing of the summer has been Dutch star Donny van de Beek. It remains to be seen who else will be brought in.
