Jadon Sancho keen to make Manchester United switch
Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet (h/t Express) claim that Manchester United are growing increasingly confident of landing Jadon Sancho this summer.
This new-found assurance comes after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held private conversations with the Borussia Dortmund star. (h/t Express)
According to the report, the 20-year-old has expressed his desire to move to Old Trafford. This augurs well for what has been one of the longest sagas this summer.
United have been long-time admirers of the English international, even before he became a household name in Germany. Initially on the books of Manchester City, Sancho left in search of first team football in 2017.
He initially spent time in the German giants’ reserve side before breaking into the first-team. He has since established himself as one of the best young talents in world football.
The major opposition could come from Dortmund who are adamant that their star winger will go nowhere. His current contract at Signal iduna Park runs until 2023. (h/t Express)
High-risk, high-return?
Solskjaer, for his part, is frustrated with the pace of negotiations. With the new season closing in, he is keen to see the deal completed as quickly as possible. (h/t Express)
The United boss is currently at odds with Ed Woodward who believes putting off a deal will result in Dortmund agreeing to sell at a lower price. (h/t Express)
Woodward’s strategy is fraught with risk and we could end up made to look like fools if Dortmund do not relent. As of yet Sancho has refused to cause any unrest and the long contract gives the German any advantage in negotiations. (h/t Express)

United also failed with an effort to land Sancho last summer. A major reason for that was our inability to offer Champions League football. (h/t Express)
With that now taken care of, it remains to be seen if it will be third time lucky in our pursuit of the winger.
