Dwight McNeil on Manchester United’s radar
According to a report from Lancs Live, Manchester United are keeping an eye on former academy man and Burnley winger Dwight McNeil.
The 20-year-old winger came through the youth ranks at United but left for Burnley in the summer of 2014. Having risen through the youth ranks with the Clarets, McNeil has become a first-team regular at Turf Moor.
Till date, he has featured 67 times for the Burnley senior team, scoring five goals and setting up 11 for his teammates. McNeil was one of the Clarets’ key players as they finished tenth in the Premier League. (h/t Transfermarkt)
And as per the report, Manchester United are keeping an eye on the England U21 international, with the club in the market for a winger.
It is no secret that the Red Devils have been after the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho all summer. However, talks over a move had stalled over the last couple of weeks as the German side refuse to budge from their £108m valuation. (h/t Lancs Live)
But it is now being claimed that the club is looking to sort out a deal for the England international. United are looking to finalise the agent fee and the player’s salary before submitting an official offer to Dortmund. (h/t Lancs Live)
Should the Sancho deal come to fruition, a move for McNeil would certainly be out of the question. However, should that fail to matter, the club might look to make a move for McNeil, who is valued at £50m by Burnley.

It goes without saying that we cannot be over-reliant on our attacking trident of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. So bringing in a new forward is a must this summer.
While the prospect of bringing back McNeil does have a nice ring to it, Sancho would be the most ideal signing for us. Hopefully, the club are able to make progress on that front in the coming days.
