Marcus Rashford withdraws from England squad due to an injury
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from the England squad due to injury.
The 22-year-old was named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Iceland and Denmark.
According to the report, Rashford has an issue with his ankle. Thankfully, it has been decided that the player will sit out of both games and focus on getting fully fit instead.
With the new Premier League season less than three weeks away, we are glad that our ace has been afforded the chance to regain fitness.
The issue becomes even more apparent considering United only finished their 2019/20 campaign 15 days ago. A number of players including Rashford looked knackered towards the end.
Given the season we have just had, the youngster will need to recuperate and rest whenever he gets the opportunity. With the European Championships scheduled for next summer, players are looking at a hard season ahead.
Rashford took to Twitter to reveal he was gutted to miss out on the games. Thankfully it is the right decision as fitness has to take precedence, especially for an athlete.
Two other United stars – Dean Henderson and Mason Greenwood have also been included in the squad. Red Devils skipper Harry Maguire too initially made the squad, only to be withdrawn following his ordeal in Greece.
