AC Milan beat Manchester Untied to Sandro Tonali
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have lost out on Sandro Tonali to AC Milan.
The 20-year-old has been likened to Italian legend Andrea Pirlo. Tonali has seen his reputation grow at Brescia. Incidentally, it is the same club where the now Juventus manager began his career.
Inter Milan looked to be in pole position to sign the player as early as last week. The Nerazzuri have since dropped their interest in Tonali to focus on N’Golo Kante.
It was reported that United were looking to hijack the deal for the gifted Italian. Unfortunately, he now looks to be on his way to Milan.
The Serie A giants have agreed a deal with Brescia owner Massimo Cellino over an initial one-year loan with an option to buy. As per the report, the total fee will amount to £26.8million.
A player with a growing reputation, he was also scouted by Chelsea and Liverpool. Tonali will sign a five-year deal with Milan, the club he supported as a boy.
Despite his young age, Tonali has good experience at the top level. So far, he has made 89 appearances while scoring six goals and 16 assists, all for Brescia (h/t Transfermarkt)
The youngster was a part of the Brescia side that won the 2018/19 Serie-B title. He also won the Serie-B Best Young Player and the Player of the Year awards during that season.

The 23-year-old looks all set to join United after Ajax Amsterdam accepted an initial £35.7million plus add-ons.
