Turkish giants keen on surprise move for 27-year-old Man United star

Galatasaray keen on Manchester United star Fred

According to Turkish source Fotomac (h/t Express), Galatasaray are interested in Manchester United star Fred.

The 27-year-old was brought to Old Trafford by Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2018. He initially struggled to make a mark at the club.

The arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and an upturn in form last season has seen the Brazilian emerge as an important player for us.

The arrival of Bruno Fernandes coupled with Paul Pogba’s resurgence has seen Fred’s game time take a hit. Although he remains an important member of the squad, his chances of usurping either Pogba or Fernandes would take some doing.

But this will not be the case if he moves to Turkey. Galatasaray are on the lookout for central midfielders and will do well to land Fred.

The Turkish giants had Mario Lemina and Jean Michael Seri on loan last season. With the duo now back in England, they find themselves short in the position.

According to the report, the Galatasaray board is weighing up the option of making a move for Fred. The Samba star was earlier linked to the Turks during his days of struggle at United.

The report goes on to say that it would be a surprise if United agreed to sell the midfielder. Fred made 48 appearances for United in all competitions last season.

Despite not being the first name of the teamsheet, Fred is an excellent player with an important position in our squad. Selling him now would create a void that would further weaken our strength in depth.

United have endured a difficult window while our rivals around us continue to strengthen. To lose Fred without bringing in a replacement would amount to suicide going into the new season.
