Mino Raiola confirms Paul Pogba will stay at Manchester United this summer
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia (h/t Mirror), super-agent Mino Raiola has confirmed that Paul Pogba will stay at Manchester United this summer.
It represents a remarkable turnaround for a player who looked to be on his way out just seven months ago. Pogba is currently in the last year of his United contract. The club however has the option to extend it for another year.
Raiola’s admission will come as a relief to the United fans. With the club failing to sign any players, losing the French colossus would have been a huge blow.
“Paul Pogba will stay at Manchester United.”
The super-agent confirmed that Pogba remains a key player for United and is 100% invested in the club’s project. United will not entertain any offers for the player this summer.
“Pogba is key player for Man Utd, they’ve an important project and he’s 100% included. Man Utd will not accept any bid on this summer to sell Pogba.”
Raiola also went on to confirm that negotiations regarding a new contract are in the works. His comments suggest at the expectation that things could be concluded smoothly.
“We’re going to speak about a new contract soon, no stress.”
From a hero to villain to a hero again
Pogba’s future has been a subject of speculation. This was especially so in the final months of Jose Mourinho’s tenure. He enjoyed an injury-ridden start to the season as speculation continued to hover regarding his future.
The signing of Bruno Fernandes saw a rejuvenated Pogba once again take the field for United post the restart. His performances of late have been top-notch and he once again looks like the world-class midfielder we all know he is.
Raiola’s comments are heartening, especially when one considers the antagonism that existed just months ago. Hopefully, Pogba will put pen to paper and commit his future to the Red Devils’ cause.
