Manchester United to offer Sergio Romero in deal for Jack Grealish
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United could offer Sergio Romero in a deal for Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
The 33-year-old has been an excellent second choice to David de Gea since joining the club in 2015. However, he is keen to secure more game time and could seek a move elsewhere.
Villa are also in the market for a keeper after having survived relegation on the final day of the season. United are hoping to take advantage of the situation by offering them Romero.
The Red Devils can afford to let Romero go following the return of Dean Henderson. The 23-year-old has built up a solid reputation after impressing during his loan spell at Sheffield United.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is impressed by the youngster’s performances and is keen to see him challenge De Gea. The Norwegian hopes that the competition will help the Spaniard rediscover his best form.
Despite United favouring a move for Jadon Sancho, Grealish is still wanted by Solskjaer. The Villa skipper has shown both ability and leadership as he led his club from the front this season.
He will add not just quality but also provide us with strength in depth going into the new season. The lack of game-changers off the bench propelled Solskajer to minimize rotating his team in the last few weeks of the season.
This led to a drop in performances as players continued to struggle with fatigue. With a Champions League campaign among others on the horizon, United cannot afford to last a whole season with the squad we currently possess.
According to the report, Solskjaer believes Grealish’s energy and confidence will fire up the whole team.
United will have to meet Villa’s £70million asking price. Grealish for his part is ready for a move and will be a solid addition to the United squad.
