Manchester United ready £150,000-a-week contract offer for Saul Niguez
According to StarSport (h/t Metro), Manchester United are readying a mammoth £150,000-a-week contract offer for Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his midfield going into next season. Adding the Spaniard to a midfield that has seen Bruno Fernandes flourish will give us more options and quality, with the Champions League back on.
The Red Devils have long been linked to Leicester City star James Maddison and Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish. Unfortunately, the chances of either occurring now seem dim, forcing us to rekindle our interest in Niguez.
According to the report, the 25-year-old is considering his future at the Wanda Metropolitano. Niguez played the whole 90 minutes against RB Leipzig as Atletico once again fell short in the Champions League.
The Spanish international spent two years in the Real Madrid youth setup before moving across to city rivals Atletico. He has reaped the benefits of his choice by blossoming into one of the best midfielders in Europe.
Niguez has so far made 296 appearances for Atletico. During this time, he has scored 41 goals and made 18 assists. Primarily a central midfielder, he is capable of playing anywhere along the middle of the park.
United believe their contract offer is enough to tempt Niguez into making the move to Old Trafford. The club expects him to be keen to play alongside Paul Pogba and Fernandes.
A player with a relentless engine, Niguez loves to get stuck in and brings bundles of energy to the midfield.

United started off in fine form post the restart. However, in recent weeks, fatigue has set in, leading to a drop in performances. With the club set to compete along multiple fronts, it is imperative that we add both quality and depth. Niguez certainly fits the bill.
The Spaniard has featured in the Champions League 53 times and is a proven player at the top level. In fact, no United player in the current roster have made more appearances than the Spaniard in Europe’s premier competition.
Niguez is undoubtedly an upgrade over the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay. Whether United can get him or not remains to be seen.
