Manchester United lead the chase for Monaco youngster Benoit Badiashile
The 19-year-old has been a long-term target for United. The Red Devils were keen on the youngster since the time of Jose Mourinho. (h/t Mirror)
The youngster made his debut for Monaco’s senior side last season and has amassed 46 appearances since. During this time, he has scored one goal and one assist. According to the report, he is valued at around £27m.
Despite making Harry Maguire the most expensive defender ever, United have at times struggled to cope with pacy attacks. Adding an infusion of speed alongside the United skipper will be a welcome addition going into next season.
Badiashile certainly satisfies the criteria and could compliment Maguire at the heart of the United back four. A 6ft 4in giant, the Frenchman is also a force to be reckoned with aerially.
Being left-footed is yet another pro in Badiashile’s favour. The 19-year-old also has experience of playing at the highest level. He made two appearances in Monaco’s 2018-19 Champions League campaign.
Badiashile is not the only Ligue 1 defender the United’s radar. The Red Devils were also keeping tabs on LOSC Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes. Everton, Napoli and Arsenal are all keen on the Brazilian. (h/t Standard)

United have improved defensively this season. We are, however, far from the finished article. Signing Badiashile would be a move in the right direction.
Badiashile can, under the right guidance, grow into an excellent defender. United will do well to take a chance on the young French youth international.
If anything, comparisons to a beast such as Varane show the level at which the youngster operates.
