Manchester United could turn to Kai Havertz if Sancho deal is a no go
According to MEN (h/t Mirror), Manchester United could turn their attention to Kai Havertz if a deal for Jadon Sancho cannot be agreed upon.
United had identified signing Sancho as their biggest priority in the summer transfer window. The club has, however, made little headway in securing the £100million star.
Borussia Dortmund continue to play hardball and refuse to back down from their asking price. With United also refusing to acknowledge, there exists some gap between both the clubs.
Dortmund had given United until August 10 to complete the deal. The Red Devils failed to do so, prompting the Germans to declare that the player will stay in Germany.
Sancho was a part of the Dortmund squad that flew to Switzerland to participate in the pre-season training.
Havertz is yet another German sensation taking Europe by storm. The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is widely considered to be one of the best young players in world football.
Valued at around £90m, Havertz is set to command a figure close to slightly smaller than that of Sancho. Leverkusen had earlier spoken of their intention to not sell Havertz until their season was over.
The loss to Inter Milan knocked them out of the Europa League. With no football to look forward to this season, the break should give United an opportunity to work out a deal.
Chelsea are in the driving seat, with the player also keen on a move to the Bridge. However, a deal is yet to be agreed upon, giving us faint hope.
Time to hurry up!
While signing both Sancho and Havertz will cost us a bomb, United have enough in their kitty to go after one of them.
The Red Devils sill have to make a decision soon. The more we delay, the more chances Chelsea have to complete a deal for the latter.
Inertia could see us miss out on not just Sancho but also Havertz. A summer that promised so much could once again end in tears.

United’s qualification for the Champions League leaves us in a good position to sign strong players. Not taking advantage of this will be foolhardy.
However, United do seem to lack any semblance of urgency. We cannot afford to be inertial while our rivals strengthen.
