Twitter reacts as Manchester United qualify for the Europa League semi-finals
In the end, it proved tough work but Manchester United have made it through to the semifinals of the Europa League.
United did not have a first-half to write home about and was at the receiving end of two VAR calls. Not only did we have a penalty overturned but also saw a goal chalked off.
The Red Devils improved after the break and peppered the Copenhagen goal with shots. The game would have been done and dusted had it not been for the sheer brilliance of goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson.
The Swede made 13 saves and single-handedly kept his side in the game. He could, however, do little to deny Bruno Fernandes from the spot after Anthony Martial was brought down in the penalty area.
Fernandes’ strike once again proved to make the difference as the game stayed 1-0 at the end of extra time.
United were largely wasteful in the attack and missed a number of chances. They also went close and struck the frame of the goal a number of times.
Despite the nature of the victory, it is difficult to argue that it was not earnt. We were easily the better team on the night and deserved our spot in the semifinals.
This is the club’s third semifinal of the season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope his squad can finally break their last-four hoodoo and go on to the final in Cologne.

It was a long wait, but boy, was it worth it! Fernandes the hero from the spot in extra time, but fair play to Copenhagen for giving it such a real go. Anyway, onwards to the semi-final we go ⚽️😀 #MUFC #UEL

United deserved the victory tonight – no debate (Copenhagen GK MOTM) however they made hard work of it. Need to play better and be more clinical if they are to win the trophy

Massive result against a really well drilled team. Great substitutions from Ole won us the game in the end.
