Manchester United willing to listen to offers for Jesse Lingard
According to a report from The Guardian, Manchester United are ready to listen to offers for midfielder Jesse Lingard.
The 27-year-old is a product of the club’s youth academy and has been a first-team regular for a number of years now. Lingard, to date, has featured 206 times for United, scoring 33 goals and setting up 20 more.
An important player under Jose Mourinho, Lingard’s stock has fallen quite dramatically over the past eighteen months or so. Poor form, injury issues have contributed to him dropping way down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Lingard has scored in his last two appearances against Leicester City (Premier League) and LASK (UEFA Europa League). The goal against the Foxes was his first in the Premier League since way back in December 2018.
The England international now has four goals and two assists in 39 appearances across all competitions in the 2019/20 season.
While that is a step in the right direction, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has deemed him surplus to requirements at the club and is now ready to listen to offers for him. (h/t The Guardian)
Lingard’s contract with Manchester United expires in the next summer. While the club have the option of extending the deal by another year, should a suitable offer arrive, they will offload him in the ongoing transfer window. (h/t The Guardian)

Lingard’s form has deteriorated terribly in recent times. Personal problems off the field have had a bearing on his performances and while he has shown signs of improvement in the last two games, there just doesn’t seem to be any place for him in the side moving forward.
With the club looking to strengthen the squad further, Solskjaer will need to be ruthless in his decisions with regard to players that are not part of the plans.
