Transfer News: Italian giants agree on a deal for Man United flop star

Inter Milan agree a deal with Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez

According to Corriere della Sera (h/t Daily Mail), Italian giants Inter Milan have reached an agreement to sign Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Inter. Although he initially struggled with fitness and form, he has been exemplary since the restart.

Sanchez notched up three goals and eight assists in 13 games since June as the Nerazzuri finished Serie A in second place, a single point behind Juventus.

United and Inter have now agreed on a £13.5m transfer fee for Sanchez. The deal will be announced after Inter’s Europa League clash against Getafe on Wednesday.

This ensures Inter can now make use of the Chilean for their European campaign. It was something they couldn’t have done had Sanchez returned to Old Trafford.

Sanchez will become the third United player to sign for the Italians in as many windows. Romelu Lukaku made the switch last summer before Ashley Young joined them in January.

The Chilean has to go down as one of United’s worst pieces of business in recent times. Getting his massive £350,000-a-week wage off the books will come as a relief to the club.

Inter were keen to sign the player for a lower pay bracket. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Daily Mail), Sanchez has agreed to spread his huge £13.5m salary over a three-year deal at Inter, taking him through until June 2023.

According to the report, the reduced wage bill can be put towards the signing of Jadon Sancho, who is closing in on a move to Old Trafford.
