Juventus set to beat Manchester United in Raul Jimenez chase
According to a report from AS (h/t Football.london), Manchester United have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Wolves’ striker Raul Jimenez, who is closing in on a transfer to Juventus.
The 29-year-old Mexican has been a prolific performer for Wolves since joining the Midlands’ outfit from Benfica in 2018. Jimenez joined the club on loan before signing permanently after a spectacular debut season.

He has continued in the same vein of form in 2019/20, helping Wolves to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League and leading them close to quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
Jimenez has plundered 26 goals and set up 10 more in 53 appearances across all competitions this season. Recent reports had claimed that Manchester United were on the verge of sealing the Mexican international’s signing.
However, these claims seem to be far from true, as reports in Spanish media (h/t Football.london) are claiming that Jimenez is closing in on a transfer to Italian champions Juventus. The 29-year-old will seal a £72m transfer to Turin.
The claims that Manchester United were intent on signing the Mexican international were quite strange to begin with. In Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a young and in-form forward line.

Odion Ighalo’s loan deal expires in January, so it is understandable if the club is eyeing a new striker. However, a 29-year-old Jimenez, who would be a short-term solution at best, does not fit the profile of players Solskjaer has targeted since taking over the reins.
