Borussia Dortmund eye Memphis Depay to replace Jadon Sancho amidst Manchester United interest

According to German publication Bild (h/t Daily Mail), Borussia Dortmund have identified Memphis Depay as a replacement for Manchester United target Jadon Sancho.

The Dutchman endured a tough time as a United player from 2015 to 2017. Brought in by Louis van Gaal, he failed to hit the heights he promised to at PSV Eindhoven.

He has enjoyed a new lease of life at Olympic Lyonnais and could now move to Dortmund in a deal worth £40million.

According to the report, Depay is also keen on leaving the French giants. Lyon endured a difficult season that saw them finish seventh. With no Champions League to look forward to, the 26-year-old is keen to move on.

Sancho is United’s top transfer target for the summer. One of the finest players in the world, the 20-year-old will add another dimension to the United frontline.

Dortmund continue to stand firm on their hefty £110m valuation of the player. It remains to be seen whether United are willing to match that price tag.
