Dean Smith admits Jack Grealish future remains unclear amidst Manchester United interest
According to BBC Sport (h/t Express), Aston Villa boss, Dean Smith admits he has no idea what the future holds for Manchester United target Jack Grealish.
The Villa skipper has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford. He did little to dispel rumours when he failed to confirm that he would indeed stay on at Villa Park.
“I’ve no idea. That will all be sorted over the next week, two weeks, month or whatever it is.”
Grealish has been central to Villa’s great escape this season. They escaped relegation due to a solitary point above Bournemouth.
The 24-year-old scored 10 goals and 8 assists in 41 appearances this season. The most important of them came on the last day when he scored against West Ham United.
With 14 goal contributions in the Premier League, Grealish has directly contributed to 34% of Villa’s goals this season. It is difficult to see the Villans survive without their skipper.
Grealish’s ability to play on the left will add another dimension to an increasingly assertive United midfield. The addition of Bruno Fernandes brought control and poise to our team. Grealish can take it further.
According to the report, the Red Devils are said to be big admirers of Grealish. They feel he would benefit from playing with higher-quality team-mates, having starred in a poor Villa team. Add to it his leadership qualities, he is a superb character.
The midfielder’s contract at Villa Park runs until 2023. He is valued at an impressive £80million.
