Nemanja Matic urges Manchester United teammates to iron our costly errors
According to the Mirror, Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has urged his teammates to stop making crucial errors.
The Red Devils’ unbeaten run was brought to an abrupt halt as Chelsea triumphed 3-1 on the night. Bruno Fernandes scored a late penalty for United but it came too late for us to stage a turnaround.
Olivier Giroud was able to brush off Victor Lindelof too easily in the build-up to Chelsea’s opener. David de Gea once again let the team down with another gaffe post the break as Frank Lampard’s side raced to a 2-0 lead.
It was a disjointed performance by United, whose fate was sealed following skipper Harry Maguire’s own goal. All three goals could have been avoided had the respective individuals stepped up.
Matic accepts that reverses do happen in football despite a team’s will to win.
“We always want to win and it’s exactly what we tried today, but this is football.”
He believes the team’s performance on the night was not good enough. The Serbian believes the experience will prove to be a lesson for the team going forward.
“In the future we cannot allow to concede three goals like we conceded today and I am sure we will learn from this.”
In some good news for United, top-four rivals Leicester City lost to Tottenham Hotspur. This paves the way for us to regain control of our top four destiny going into the final two games.
The stage is now set for us to return to the Champions League. As long as we can defeat West Ham United and then avoid a loss against the Foxes on the final day, we shall prevail.

Losses are a part of football. Much can be learned from them, provided one is willing to. United still have a lot to play for this season. It is time to leave the defeat against Chelsea behind.
The best way to get over it is to ensure such a capitulation does not occur again.
