Twitter reacts as David de Gea suffers yet another masterclass for Manchester United
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was the name on everyone’s lips following the FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea.
Going back two years, such a statement would have elicited thoughts of joy. The Spaniard would have been expected to be the hero after yet another jaw-dropping performance.
Sadly, that seems to be a thing of the past. The Spaniard has come to the fore of late for his gaffes. It was the same at Wembley on Sunday night.
The second half had just started and United were trying to get back to level terms. Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount unleashed a shot from distance that appeared to present little danger.
What should have been a routine save instead became another nail in the coffin for De Gea’s United career. The game that was finely balanced until then swung our opponents’ way and it sparked the end of our FA Cup hopes.
It has become a disappointing trend for a player who has for long been a dependable last line of defence.
De Gea’s errors have become far too common for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to ignore. It remains to be seen if a decision will be taken on the Spaniard in the summer.
A number of United fans took to Twitter to express their views. We take a look at a few of them below.

Dortmund need a keeper, just include De Gea in the Sancho deal and everyone wins

The corn I got when I said we shouldn’t give De Gea that new contract now we’re stuck with Rich Tea fingers in goal on nearly 400 bags a week 🤣🤷🏾♂️ MAZZALEEN! #MUFC

Had some time to think and I don’t think we should sell De Gea tbh. His punishment must be more severe

Remind so much of the downfall of Iker Casillas. Iker Casillas started slipping during a horrific 2014 World Cup, De Gea had some absolute howlers during the 2018 World Cup. The difference is Real Madrid acted fast and got rid off him, United is reacting very slow

Anytime @D_DeGea messes up & you talk….@ManUtd fans will tell you he is the pillar that have saved the team over the years….such mediocrity 😥😥😥

Not good enough to warrant number 1 anymore but dean Henderson is not ready to be number 1 at united🤷🏾♂️

There’s no words to describe his mistakes anymore just simply not good enough, I love de gea he’s been outstanding for most of the time he’s spent at the club, but I really do think it’s time dean henderson became our no1 keeper.

IMO, DDG’s main attributes are his extraordinary shotstopping. Not many would have claimed he was the most commanding in the area or one of the best with his feet.

So, when he starts making shot stopping errors leaving to goals, there doesnt seem to be much that redeems him.
De Gea still remains the best Kepa in the world.

De Gea + £50m to Athletico for Oblak.
