Shaw picked up an ankle injury in a Premier League game against Southampton earlier this week. The England international did not feature in the clash against Crystal Palace on Thursday night.

“Luke will be out. I can’t see him recovering.”

This ought to come as a blow for us given how impressive Shaw had been of late. The former Southampton starlet had finally started to live up to his vast potential and had been one of our top performers since the restart.

But once again, injury has played spoilsport in his development, which has been the case for a vast majority of his career at Old Trafford. Hopefully, the 25-year-old is able to mount a quick recovery and be available for the remaining matches this season.

Apart from Shaw, Solskjaer also provided an update on the condition of fellow left-back Brandon Williams. The academy graduate picked up a nasty facial injury in the game against Southampton as well and missed the Crystal Palace clash.

However, the boss was hopeful that the teenage full-back will be available for selection on Sunday for the game at Wembley. (h/t ManUtd.com)

“Brandon will hopefully be okay, he’ll try to join in training today with his eye. We’ll see if he can see the ball when he comes in! He should be fine.”

Solskjaer had opted to play Timothy Fosu-Mensah at left-back against Palace in the absence of Shaw and Williams. And if the latter isn’t passed fit for the FA Cup semi-final, we may once again see Fosu-Mensah in action, although Diogo Dalot is also an option.
