“Trust yourself” – Solskajer urges Man United stars to keep faith following Southampton setback

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the top-four race is a test of his side’s mentality

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged his players to keep faith in themselves following the setback against Southampton.

The Red Devils were just seconds away from moving up to third, only for the Saints to land a sucker punch. The fact that we came so close only to still stay fifth will not have been lost on the players.

The United boss has however urged his stars to keep doing what they are doing and that results will take care of itself.

“Keep on doing what we have been doing. Just trust ourselves, trust yourself.”

United are on an 18-match unbeaten run stretching all the way back to January. Solskajer reminded everyone that his side started off with a draw against Tottenham Hotspur after the restart.

They then embarked on a winning run that only came to an end this Monday. Having to do so again now is a test of the player’s mentality.

“Now that little bit of a setback is a test for mentalities.”

United as a club have always had something to play for as the season comes to an end. It is no different this time around as we look to secure a top-four finish.

The United boss also dismissed suggestions that his team selection will be determined by the upcoming FA Cup semifinals against Chelsea. He did, however, admit that a few fresh legs could be swapped in.

“The team selection for Thursday is based on Thursday, not on Sunday.”

Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams were both injured against Southampton. The duo looks set to miss the clash against Palace.
