According to MEN, Diogo Dalot could return for Manchester United against Crystal Place.

The 21-year-old has made just 11 appearances for the club this season after falling behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order.

With both Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams injured, Dalot could return to the lineup, this time as a left-back.

If it comes to pass, it will be the first time that he has featured for United in the league since February. One will have to go back all the way to October to find his previous start. (h/t Transfermarkt)

It is a position he has played twice for United. Both came last season, against Brighton and Everton respectively. According to the report, Dalot has been training hard and is fit to play. He last played for United in their FA Cup quarter-final at Norwich on June 27.

Shaw sustained a twisted ankle while his replacement Williams was forced off with a gash to the head following a nasty collision with Kyle Walker-Peters.

The duo reported to United’s Carrington training complex on Wednesday morning. A decision on their involvement will only be taken when the squad flies to London ahead of Thursday’s fixture.

Brought in by former boss Jose Mourinho, Dalot has struggled to impose himself at Old Trafford. Injuries have not helped either with him spending large chunks of the season on the sidelines.

He had earlier commented about giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a selection headache. It is fair to say that has not happened.

Dalot has been given a fortuitous opportunity to remind everyone just what made United buy him. Whether he takes it or not remains to be seen.
