Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford to be conferred an honorary doctorate
According to the BBC, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is set to become the youngest recipient of an honorary doctorate from The University of Manchester.
The 22-year-old is to be conferred with the honour for his impeccable efforts in fighting child hunger and also his performances on the field.
This makes him the third United hero to receive the particular honour following club legends Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson.
In a perfect show of his humility, Rashford took to Twitter to admit he has been humbled by the gesture.

He admitted that it is a proud day for him and his family before going on to add that his social work is far from done.
“We still have a long way to go in the fight to combat child poverty in this country, but receiving recognition from your city means we are heading in the right direction, and that means a lot.”
Fans broke club loyalties to congratulate the youngster on his achievement. There have been naysayers too, who are not happy with the award of honour.
For them, we would like to say that this is just an ‘honorary’ doctorate given in response to his contribution to the community as a whole. One of the basic aspects of researchers is to make the world a better place, and Rashford is doing that.
We take a look at how United fans reacted to the news on Twitter.

Amazing recognition, great work. You would have thought members of elected parliament would have resolved issues like these. However, power and greed corrupts most mindsets.

Well deserved. A breath of fresh air in the industry! I wonder if there are other players who are doing/will do similar now because of Rashford’s example?
